•KINOMAL FORTE is a synergistic fixed dose combination of an artemisinin derivatives: Artemether and Lumefantrine. •
•PHARMACOLOGY
Artemether is a potent blood schizonticide, the main active metabolite of the artemisinin derivatives. It binds tightly to the parasitized erythrocyte membrane, leading to the cleavage of its endoperoxide bond which is responsible for its antimalaria property.
The release of an active oxygen specie from the bond kills the parasite.
Lumefantrinis also a blood schizonticide, it accumulstesin the parasite vacuole bringing about loss of function and eventual cell death
•PHARMACOKINETICS:
Artemether, upon oral administration is rapidly absorbed, Cmaxachieved after 1hr, half-life about 4hrs, widely distributed. Approx 80% excreted through urine and faeces within 24hrs.
Lumefantrin, upon oral administration, about 80-90% is absorbed within 24hrs. Elimination is very slow with half life of at least 4 to 6 days
KINOMAL FORTE is indicated in:
*All Forms of Uncomplicated Malaria
*Follow up Treatment after use of Parenteral Antimalarial
Caution should be taken when Co administered with Vitamin C and E or any other antioxidant as they can reduce its efficacy

Side Effect
No noticeable side effects of Artemether is reported. Possible side effects of Lumefantrininclude mild headache, nausea,vomiting and abnominal discomforte. These occur in less than 6% of patients treated with Artemether/Lumefantrin.
